Charging Cupra Electric Cars
Charging Cupra Electric Cars
'Cupra' may not be a brand you're too familiar with, but with its rapid expansion plans for EV development, we're sure it is on its way to being a household name.
Cupra is a division of parent company Seat. It was originally known as 'Cupra Racing' and consisted of high-performance motorsport vehicles. In 2018 Seat re-launched Cupra as a commercial business, selling 'sporty' vehicles to the public but adding elements of functionalism, personalisation, and reliability for the everyday driver.
To get the most out of your Cupra EV, you will need to use high-quality charging equipment. Read on to find out how to help your EV reach its full potential!
Cupra EV Models
Currently, Cupra only offers one fully electric vehicle:
⚡️The Cupra Born (2022) – 58 kWh usable battery.
The Cupra Born runs entirely on its electric battery and has a max speed of 99mph. It has a customisable sporty exterior and functional interior, with various additions and colour options.
Cupra PHEV Models
Cupra currently offer two types of PHEVs commercially:
⚡️The Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid (2021) - 12.8 kWh usable battery.
⚡️The Cupra Leon e-Hybrid (2021) - 12.8 kWh usable battery.
Cupra EVs Charging Cables
You must get compatible, reliable, high-quality cables to charge your Cupra. Your car's battery could be negatively affected if you don't get high-quality charging products, reducing its life and efficiency.
Cupra EVs and PHEVs are suitable for home charging with a type 2 cable.
At Smartly, we offer a range of premium EV cables that are compatible for use with Cupra's, for example:

If you want to charge your Cupra EV at home, we have a range of excellent options to choose from for your home setup, including:
Myenergi Zappi WiFi Edition Single Phase Charger
Easee One 7.4 kW Single Phase charger
If these aren't quite what you're searching for, you can find our full range of chargers here. We're sure we'll have something that fits your needs.
We also offer stronger three phase chargers, however we recommend these for commercial and industrial use, as most homes will not have a compatible three phase output.
The cost to charge your Cupra EV at home will vary based on your energy plan and the type of equipment you use. On average, it will cost £16.24 to reach a fully charged battery at home. You can sometimes reduce your cost by charging during off-peak times (check your energy plan to see if this applies to you).
The Cupra PHEVs have smaller batteries than the EVs, making them less expensive to charge. The average price to charge a Cupra Formentor at home is £3.58, while the average price to charge a Cupra Leon is £3.23..
