Charging Mini Electric Cars
Charging Mini Electric Cars
Minis are instantly recognisable cars, and they've been popular since the early 1960s when they became a symbol of the British Pop Culture movement.
Formally, Mini was owned by the British Motor Corporation, which gave it its classic design and 'uniquely British' style. German manufacturer BMW now owns mini, and they have been working to improve their sustainability efforts with a range of Mini electric and PHEV vehicles.
Read on to find out how you can get the most from your Mini electric vehicle.
Mini EV & PHEVs Models
When it comes to charging your Mini EV or PHEV, how long it will take to achieve a full charge will come down to the size of your car's battery and the quality of the equipment you use. Currently, Mini offer two electric vehicles:
• Mini Electric (2020) - 32.6 kWh battery
• Mini Countryman PHEV (2017) - 7.6 kWh battery
Both vehicles offer the potential for increased sustainable travel with fairly sized electric engines. The Mini Electric (2020) has an official range of 145 miles between charges, and it can get up to 62 mph in just 7.3 seconds – making it a speedy and efficient car, especially for short-distance or city commuters.
Mini EVs Charging Cables
While it is possible to charge both the Mini Electric (2020) and the Mini Countryman PHEV (2017) with a three-pin charger, it will take you much longer than if you used a dedicated charging port and cable.
Longer charging times can amount to more money spent on electricity and damage your car's battery in the long run. If you want to get the most out of your Mini electric vehicle, you'll need to use the best equipment available to you.
The Mini Electric (2020) and the Mini Countryman PHEV (2017) are compatible with type 2 charging cables. At Smartly, we offer a range of EV cables that are of the highest quality, such as:

Mini EV Chargers
We can't recommend having a good home-charging set up enough – it'll help you get the most out of owning your electric vehicle if you can achieve a full charge at home.
For home charging, we would recommend a single-phase charger such as:
You can find the full selection of chargers on our website. We do not recommend three-phase chargers for home usage, as most homes will not have a suitable three-phase power supply to accommodate them.
